Due to the stance (or lack thereof) of Kyle Drake, Neocities' leader, on genAI and similar technologies, but which can be inferred to be positive based on his site, statements made via Neocities' Bluesky account and his personal Bluesky account (all which are publicly accesible), I have decided to stop using Neocities until further notice.

I am grateful that people like Kyle have made possible the dream of emulating the old web, and appreciate Neocities for what it is. However, as a monetarily supporter, the situation represents a break of trust, calling into question his means of improving the internet, the integrity of his ideals and goals, and ultimately, the future of Neocities.
As multiple platforms continue on the path of enshittification, I no longer feel comfortable opening my wallet to someone who thinks many of the practices that have lead to our current situation are to be embraced as part of an unavoidable technological evolution.
